Kids ages 8 and up: Explore the artistic form of comic book design as you learn to create your personalized edition. Create your own characters, develop story lines and incorporate pictures of actual sets, all designed with LEGO Bricks! After creating various scenes, campers will snap pictures and upload them, utilizing a software program to create their very own, one of a kind comic book. Along with honing your story telling skills, this camp is sure to take your imagination to the next level. At the end of the week, campers will be provided with a digital copy of the comic book they created. So, how’s that for comic relief?

*Somerset County Library does not normally charge the public for classes or workshops. However, based on last year’s STEAM survey results, we are moving forward with this reduced -cost Camp in order to provide area families with a wider variety of Summer Learning options. The Comic Book Creator Summer Camp is offered at a reduced price as part of a Somerset County Library Picking up STEAM Project made possible in part by a grant from the Somerset County Community Fund of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. Thanks to donations from the Somerset Welfare League and others, the cost of this camp has been further reduced to $68 per child as of May 3, 2017. The Library is still seeking donations to help further defray the costs of this camp. (Should additional funds become available after a child has paid the camp fee, a partial refund will be offered). The Comic Book Creator Camp has 16 spaces available. These will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. A minimum of five campers must register and pay their fees by July 1 or the camp will be canceled.
A free hot lunch will be served daily through the USDA Summer Food Service Program.
